CORDELE — With the competition shortened to allow participants time to enjoy some homemade ice cream, Jean Bullington maintained her first place lead of two games during Tuesday’s weekly Crisp Horseshoe Club pitching .

Things are tight behind Bullington as there’s a three-way tie for second among Bud Brake, Mary Ann Gibbs and Marcus Waters. Randy Morris is only a half game back in fifth. Another half-game back is Roland Lallier.

Gibbs had high ringer percentage (64 by making 32 of 50 shots). Waters had high handicap game (158).

The club is hosting a state qualifying tournament Saturday starting at 10 a.m. at Turner Park.

“Anyone is welcome to come pitch as we’ll have a class for everyone,” club president Waters said.

Crisp wrestlers place high in Cairo Invitational
Crisp County High wrestlers competed in Saturday’s Cairo Invitational where six of its participants reached the final round of matches and four of then came home with medals. Coached by Todd George, the Cougar grapplers will return to Cairo tomorrow for the area tournament.
