Three Cougar wrestler qualify for state finals

Jasper, Ga. — Crisp County High’s wrestling team has qualified three of its members for definite participation in the state finals and two others as possible entries in their weight classes.

Entered in Saturday’s West Sectionals, coach Todd George’s Cougars got fifth place finishes from Dillian Richter and Charleston McKenzie in the 182- and 285-pound classes, respectively. In addition, Kaun Daniels placed eighth in the 220-pound division.

With the top eight in each weight division qualifying for the finals, Adarius Pruitt in the 120-pound ranks and Gregory Harvey in the 195-pound category just missed the right to complete as they placed ninth and thus are alternates.

“We have a pretty young team that I think has done pretty well considering  we lost some starters due to injuries,” George said.

“I look forward to seeing our guys compete in this coming weekend’s finals at the Macon Coliseum Centreplex as I think those who made it there will either place or win at state.”
