Cordele —
CORDELE — Jean Bullington increased her first place lead to two games during Tuesday’s weekly pitching of the Crisp Horseshoe Club at Turner Park.
Bud Brake made the big move, though, winning all three of his games to move from a tie for fifth to second place only two games back of Bullington. Randy Morris moved up to third a half-game behind Brake.
Another half-game back and tied for fourth are Mary Ann Gibbs and Marcus Waters. Gibbs also won all three games and had high ringer percentage (66 by making 33 of 50 attempts). Morris had high handicap game (160).
Four club members went to Columbus this past Saturday and competed in a state qualifying tournament. Out of four classes, Crisp members won two of them. Suzanne Miller went undefeated in winning her class. Waters initially was in a three-way tie for first before winning in a playoff.
The local club will host a tournament on Sept. 11th and everyone is invited out either to pitch or to watch some good pitching. Competition starts at 10 a.m.
