The Crisp Horseshoe Club celebrated its seventh year of existence at the annual awards banquet held Tuesday night.
Twenty seven persons attended as club president, Marcus Waters bragged on the accomplishments of club members during the past year and gave out plaques, patches and certificates to several.
In statewide competition, member Larry Myers earned Player of the Year honors, took the Big Dog Award based on winning percentage and was on the state doubles champion team.
Myers also had the highest ringer percentage (64) in the state. Of the 23 state tournaments held in 2012, he competed in 21 of them and turned in nine first place finishes.
Club members won two firsts and two seconds at the state singles tournament held at the end of the year.
Suzanne Miller and Marcus Waters had the firsts and Andrew Jones and Dan Sanders had the seconds.
At the World Tournament held in Knoxville, Tenn., Ronnie Miller registered a first and Waters a second in their class.
In club awards, several were awarded ringer percentage patches for different levels of achievement. Dan Sanders got an 80% patch for making 40 ringers in 50 pitches.
The league champion for both spring and summer Leagues was Suzanne Miller.
High average was Sanders while high game with handicap was Andrew Jones and Roland Lallier. Jones also got high game over average and rookie awards for the spring. His younger brother, 10-year-old Hunter , got high game over average, rookie and most improved for the summer league.
George Rackard was named most improved for the spring league. Sportsmanship awards went to Ronnie Miller and Bud Brake.
Several national top 10 awards were captured by members, too.
Sanders was ninth in the nation in the men’s 30-foot division for high point game with a 133 out of a possible 150. Tom Carter was seventh for high point game over average.
In the junior boys division, Andrew Jones won six different awards. He was first for high ringer game over average, second for high point game over average, fourth for high point game (101), sixth for high point average, and 10thfor league high ringer average (39.71%).
When league play for 2013 will begins at 6 p.m. on March 12 at Turner Park, Waters said anyone interested is welcomed to participate or watch..
“We do have some good pitchers, but we also have a handicap scoring system which gives everyone a chance to win,” the club president stressed.
