Katherine McGarr’s first-place finish in the 5K division and Heidi Taylor’s seventh place spot among half marathon led area entries in Saturday’s Museum of Aviation Marathon/Half Marathon/5K competition.
McGarr turned in a time of 23:41 while pacing females ages 15-19 in the 3.1-mile run. Taylor had a 1:46:59.98 clocking in the female 30-34-year-old ranks of the 13.1-mile portion of the annual event.
Vienna’s Chad Wadford also had a seventh place finish in the men’s 40-44 class 5K event during which Candice Brake placed 10th in the women’s 25-29 field at 32:13.
Other Cordeleans (all women) entered in the 3.1-mile run and their places and times were: Katrina Young, 14th, 30-34, 33:50; Andrea Griffin, 13th, 40-44, 39:21; Renita Roobin, 23rd, 35-39, 45:13, and Tina Register, 16th, 40-44, 45:57.
Besides Taylor, other area runners (also all women) entered in the half-marathon race and their places and times were: Kelly Brown, 3rd, 20-24, 1:53:19.98; Amelia Gibbs, 10th, 35-39, 1:56:50, and Stacey McGarr, 12th, 40-44, 1:58:28.87.
