Cordele —
In the early morning of July 31, 2010 at 3:15 a.m. our mom, Patricia Neuman’s home was engulfed by flames. The local firefighters did a great job at putting the fire out quickly. They diligently looked for her and her sister’s dogs (Dobi and Blue - teacup Chihuahuas) but it was too late.
It was very hot even at this early hour and firefighters were passing out as they exited the home but continued to work quickly. We are very thankful for the job they did. Our mom was not at home at the time the fire started so we are very thankful there was no harm to her, but she arrived home as the firefighters started working.
We are also very thankful for her gracious neighbors who called 911 and also banged on her door makiing sure she was not home. Many neighbors have stopped by and brought drinks during the long days of cleaning up and there is still alot to clean up.
Unfortunately our mom’s home was not insured and she needs monetary donations to help clean up the mess the fire left behind. We were able to save some china, cookware, clothes, and furniture. We are very thankful for all the help we have received. All donations may be sent to 3891 A Hwy 280 E, Cordele, GA 31015 or brought to the office of G. Russell Wright, PC, 110 East 13th Ave., Cordele, GA 31015.
Thank you again,
Nikki Neumans and Kristy Branch

Dear Editor:
I truly appreciate the Cordele Dispatch allowing me this space today to extend a “thank you” forty years late. -
Mr. Man is peculiar
Men are peculiar creatures. I suppose, now that I’ve laid that provocative declaration on the table, you’ll want solid proof to back it up, though proving it will not be a difficult task; all I have to do is point to…Mr. Man.

Life, liberty, and .….accessories?
Spartanburg, South Carolina, is not the cultural center of the universe. I am qualified to make that statement based on my experiences in Spartanburg which include The Hearon Traffic Circle, The Midnight Sun, and Wofford College.

Mr. Man and childhood obesity
Mr. Man has a fat grandson. The kid lives in Texas, so we rarely see him, but according to pictures on Facebook, he is fat.

Life, liberty, and .….springtime?
Spring is officially here. I don’t care about the calendar, the baseball season, the basketball playoffs, Easter, when the Confederate Jasmine blooms, when the robins come through, when the sand hill cranes fly, or what the temperature does.

Victim thanks officers
(A story about a robbery at gunpoint ran in Thursday’s Cordele Dispatch. As is the paper’s policy, the victim was not identified. He submitted a letter of thanks, but asked that he still not be identified.
We are honoring his request because of the circumstances. Sheriff Donnie Haralson and other officers know who he is). -
Life, liberty, and …vacations?
Vacations are a time to get away and escape the humdrum of your normal life. Some couples I know like to take a trip about once a quarter, just get out of town.
