Deacon Elie "Eli" McKenzie, Sr.
BYROMVILLE -- Funeral services for Deacon Elie "Eli" McKenzie Sr., 82, will be held at 12 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2005 in the New Popular Springs Baptist Church in Byromvillle. Burial will be held in New Popular Springs Cemetery. The Rev. Curtis Raines will officiate.
Dea. McKenzie died Wednesday, Nov. 2, 2005 in the Northlake Medical Center in Dekalb County.
He was the son of the late Ethel C. and Mary Harvey McKenzie. He was one of the founding members of the New Popular Springs Baptist Church where he served as chairman of the Deacon Board for 30 years. He was a mason (Franklin Lodge No. 210), World War II Army Veteran and a farmer.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Sallie M. McKenzie of Byromville; 9 children, Evon (Wendell) Tooks and Therman McKenzie Sr. of Stone Mountain, Eli (Vera) McKenzie, Roy (Cynthia) McKenzie and Viola McKenzie, all of Decatur, Queenie (Douglas) Aydelott and Andrew McKenzie of Utah, Nina Mapp of Macon and Ronald (Teresa) McKenzie of Lithonia; four brothers, Alford C. (Clemmie) McKenzie of Swainsboro, Oscar (Mazel) McKenzie of Utica, NY, Willie B. (Claudia) McKenzie and Earl McKenzie, both of New Jersey; two sisters, Elnora Gay of Byromville and Bertha McKenzie of New Jersey; 25 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives.

HOPE MILLS, NC -- Funeral services for retired SSgt. Brenda Jean Tolbert-Jones, formerly of Cordele, will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, November 9, 2005 with full military honors in the sanctuary of the Greater Morris Tabernacle Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the Bethel Cemetery. The Rev. Lorenda Ray will officiate.
Mrs. Tolbert-Jones died Monday, October 31, 2005.

William Hardy "Bill" Owens
GREENWOOD, S.C. -- Funeral services for William Hardy "Bill" Owens, 87, formerly of Rochelle, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 12 in the M.G. Frazier Memorial Chapel of Frazier and Son Funeral Home. The Rev. Talmadge Wilcox and Rev. Clark Standard will officiate. Interment will be in the Morningside Cemetery with military rites.
Mr. Owens died Sunday, Nov. 6, 2005 at his residence.
Mr. Owens was born on March 14, 1918 in Wilcox County and has lived in Greenwood, South Carolina since 1972. He was the son of the late James Hardy Owens and Nannie Paramore Owens. He was retired from the United State Government with the Department of Affairs. He was a World War II Navy Veteran and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Rochelle.
Survivors include his sons, Patrick William Owens of Las Vegas, NV and Allen Anthony Wayne Owens of Greenwood, S.C.; daughters, Lynda Bethune of Grovetown, Robin Annette Owens of Augusta, Stephanie Miles of Greenwood, SC and Jocelyn Sheyyab of Abbeville, S.C.; and six grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 11, 2005 in the funeral Home.

CORDELE -- Funeral services for Ms. Charlene "Lena" White will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 10, 2005 at Greater Morris Tabernacle Baptist Church with interment following in the Bethel City Cemetery. The Rev. Issac Owens, pastor of Mildale Baptist Church in Cordele, will be officiating.
Ms. White died Thursday, November 3, 2005 at the Crisp Regional Health and Rehabiliation Center in Cordele.

ASHBURN -- Funeral services for Dorris A. Brown, 97, will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2005 at Perry Funeral Chapel with burial to follow in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Sycamore.
Mrs. Brown died Sunday, Nov. 6, 2005, at the Ashburn Health Care following an extended illness.

Kim Fraser sang "Stand Alone" and Amanda Dukes sang "O Come Angel Band." The service concluded with Mrs. Cromer's son, Elton Cromer, singing "Going Home".
