Rochelle — Bob R. Young, SMSGT (RET), age 82, passed away on Tuesday, December 18, 2012 at his residence. A memoria service with full military honors will be held at 2 p.m on Friday, December 21, 2012 in the Rochelle United Methodist Church with Reverend Nancylee Carter officiating. Prelude and postlude will be played by Rhoda Henderson and Hollie Powell will sing “Amazing Grace.”

Visitation will be held prior to the service from 1p.m. to 2 p.m. in the church. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully suggests memorial donations be made to the Rochelle United Methodist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 472, Rochelle, Ga. 31079.

Mr. Young was born on December 15, 1930 in Indianapolis, Indiana. He was the son of the late Buell M. Young and Goldie Webster Young. He was a retired Civil Service Employee in the Heavy Equipment Mechanic Department at the Marine Corps Logistic Center. He was of the Methodist faith and was a member of the Mallard Point Golf Club and the Retired Enlisted Association. He served his country with pride, honor, courage and commitment for 20 years in the United States Air Force serving in Korea and two tours of duty in Vietnam. He was the recipient of many awards, medals, and commendations. He was a very dedicated husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

Survivors include; dedicated wife of 58 years - Ethel Young of Rochelle, sons - Lloyd Cross Young of Albuquerque, New Mexico and Stephen Robert Young of Colorado Springs, Colorado, step son - Johnny Warren of Crested Butte, Colorado, daughters - Melanie Y. Ramirez of Rochelle and Barbara Y. Atherton of Cordele, brother - Jack R. Young of San Antonio, Texas, 9 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
