Cordele — Workers secured the final steel beam in place on the emergency department expansion at Crisp Regional Hospital just after 12 noon Friday.
Hospital President and CEO Steve Gautney conducted a brief ceremony just before the beam was lifted to the top of the building.
Earlier in the week, the beam had been painted white and hospital staff, as well as construction workers had an opportunity to sign it.
U. S. and Georgia flags were placed on the beam as symbols of the emergency department’s service to the community, state and nation.
An evergreen, also placed on the beam, symbolized continued growth for the hospital, and it will be planted on the grounds.
