Atlanta —
ATLANTA - Cordele's Bruce Drennan has been recognized by Georgia Trend magazine as one of the "100 most influential Georgians."
Along with the other honorees, Drennan will be honored at a luncheon and ceremony at the Ritz-Carlton in Atlanta Tuesday, Jan. 29. At the same time, the 2013 "Georgian of the Year," Governor Nathan Deal, and Hall of Fame inductees also will be honored.
According to the listing in this month's issue of Georgia Trend, "Drennan guides economic development in one of Georgia's vibrant hubs, where a call center (500 jobs in two years) and wood products company (80 jobs) recently put down roots.
"The Cordele Inland Port, which opened in 2011, is drawing a lot of interest. It's expected to handle more than 15,000 containers (shipped by rail to and from the Port of Savannah) this year, generating 1,500 to 3,000 jobs in the region within three years."
Drennan is executive director of the Cordele-Crisp County Industrial Development Council. He said he is humbled, but very appreciative to have been selected for this honor.
The Cordele-Crisp Chamber of Commerce plans to carry a contingent of local people to the Jan. 29 ceremony. Anyone who is interested in attending the luncheon should contact the Chamber at 273-1668.
