Cordele —
Multiple charges have been filed against a 17-year-old male arrested in connection with a Monday disturbance at an apartment located in the 1000 block of 10th St. S.
Cordele Police Department records identify the alleged teen offender as James E. Tolbert Jr., of 302 Third St. N.
Patrolman James Wynn said he and Sgt. Dedra Davis were en route to the incident location when they were advised by radio that a 16-year-old female complainant had identified Tolbert as the person who came to her front door and then pointed a gun at her through a window.
Upon arrival on the scene, the investigating officers said they saw Tolbert walking to the rear of the complainant’s residence. When ordered to stop for questioning, he instead took off running.
A chase ensued before the youth was cornered underneath a residence in the 1200 block of Ninth St. where he was taken into custody and later transported to police headquarters for booking.
Among the charges Tolbert faces are terroristic threats and acts, pointing or aiming a gun or pistol at another, battery, simple battery (domestic violence act), obstruction of an officer in the performance of his duties and criminal trespass.
In one other incident noted in their activity report for Monday, David Jones, 56, whose address was not listed, was cited for theft by taking.
No information was provided as to where Jones’ alleged crime took place, who the victim was or what item(s) the offender is accused of stealing.
