Cordele —
Cordele property tax notices will be going out no later than Friday, Dec. 14, according to Acting City Manager Edward Beach.
Beach made this announcement at the city commission meeting Tuesday, and added, “this will be helpful for those who would like to pay their taxes before the end of the year.”
Also on Tuesday, Commissioners approved the execution of a resolution regarding the restructuring of the TEAC gas supply agreement.
“The plan is to cancel a portion of the bonds issued by TEAC and to reduce gas quantities delivered to the city’s natural gas system,” said Beach. “In doing so, the City will receive an ‘upfront’ payment for the present value of the monthly savings associated with the reduction in gas quantities. At last date, the estimate for the savings was just over $600,000.”
As of October, 31, 2012, 33.33% of this year’s budget should have been received and expended, Beach said. General fund revenues are down 27% (actual $2,267,389 compared to budget $3,109,173).
Expenditures, he added are down 10% (actual $2,809,150 compared with budget $3,109,173). Still expenditures exceed revenues by $541,761.
Beach explained that the 10th Street “pedestrian pathway project” is now in the environmental study approval phase. “There are four required environmental studies to be completed. Two of the four have been completed by the staff at River Valley RC and those will be submitted to Moreland Altobelli Associates for their review and approval on behalf of GDOT.”
City Attorney, Tommy Cotton reported that the fair market value of a property donated to the city is $77,000. The family donating this land which butts up to an I-75 ramp and is land-locked has asked the City of Cordele to acknowledge the gift in writing. This was approved.
Commissioners approved a request from Housing and Urban Advancement Director Irene Cantrell for a third party inspection of the Gillespie-Seldon Rehab Project.
UC&T Director Debbie Wright said well levels are up by 3 feet but more rain is needed all over the southeastern United States.
