Memorial Day race set

CORDELE — Kiwanis Club members here are making plans for their annual Memorial Day Running Celebration which is set for May 31.

Four races are planned with the traditional 8-K to begin at 7:54 a.m. in the Crisp County Middle School auditorium parking lot.

A mile run/walk follows closely at 8:01 a.m., then two 5-K’s will be run, one at 9:09 a.m. and the second at 9:49 a.m.

Runners who pre-register by May 14 will pay $14 per race or $38 for three races. After May 14 and on the day of the races, the fee increases to $18 per race or $50 for three races.

All proceeds will be used by the Kiwanis Club in service to children.

Awards will be presented in the 8-K race only to the overall top male and female, Grand Masters male and female, and Great Grand Masters male and female.

Additionally, trophies will go to 1st, 2nd and 3rd place finishers in numerous age groups from 10 and under to 100 and over male and female.

The first 100 finishers ages 12 and under will receive awards in the mile run.

Participants in the 5-K race will receive points in the Run and See Georgia Grand Prix, but no other awards.
