CORDELE — When Robert Cotton was hired as Crisp County High’s boys basketball coach this past spring, he observed that hoop talent is definitely here and said his goal would be to get the best out of it.
Toward that end, he had planned to have his players participate in all the team and individual camps they could possibly attend this coming summer.
He said his ambitions were to “first of all put this program back among the top 10 in the state and then to coach at least one other player who moves on to the Division I collegiate level.
““There’s definitely basketball talent in Crisp County and my goal is to get the best out of it. Then, if I’m still wanted here, I’m willing to stay.”
As it turns out, Cotton apparently is unwanted — a fact that he chose to make public in this past Friday’s issue of the Albany Herald.
