Cordele —
South Georgia Technical College Crisp County Center Student Leadership Council sponsored a pumpkin decorating and costume contest in celebration of Halloween. All students and faculty members were urged to participate.
Each program department was eligible to participate in the pumpkin decorating contest, and the culinary arts program took first place with a replica of the Windsor Hotel made from gingerbread and pumpkins.
The practical nursing department was awarded second place, and the emergency medical technology program finished in third place in the decorating contest.
For his individual costume, D.W. Persall from electronics won first place dressed as a pirate, and Mary Amerson of marketing management captured second place with her ghost killer costume. Alicia Smith of Culinary Arts took third place with her voodoo woman costume.
SGTC faculty and staff Joe Bailey, Kelly Everett, and Katrice Taylor served as judges of the costume contest, and Catherine Mays from Keep Crisp Beautiful, Nelson Barrett from the City of Cordele, and Miriam Edwards from the Crisp Area Arts Alliance were judges for the decorating contest.
Members of the Student Leadership Council would like to thank to all the instructors who participated in the decorating contest and for their support.
Students in the culinary arts classes provided Halloween/Cajun treats for the two activities.
