Burden named SGTC student of quarter

CORDELE — South Georgia Technical College accounting student Jazmine Burden of Vienna is the summer quarter recipient of the Student of the Quarter Award for SGTC’s Crisp County Center.

This award recognizes an outstanding student from each of the eleven program areas at the school. Program instructors nominate one student from their programs who has exhibited exceptionally high standards academically, socially, and professionally. The student who receives this honor has proved that he or she realizes what hard work is and has made a decision and sincere commitment to excellence.

Burden was presented a $50 check, an engraved personal plaque, a congratulatory letter from SGTC President Sparky Reeves, and a “Student of Excellence” t-shirt.

Her name also was engraved on a perpetual plaque that is displayed in the front lobby of the Crisp County Center.  A Student of the Quarter Banner is hung in the program area until next quarter’s ceremony at which time the banner will be moved to the program area of the new winner. 

Other nominees for the summer quarter were Francie McDaniel of Cordele, business administrative technology;  Ashley Miller of Cordele, computer information systems;  Shaunita Bryant of Cordele, criminal justice technology; Audrey Ford of Cordele, early childhood care and education; 

Also Chasity Pace of Cordele, electronics technology; David Hall of Americus, industrial electrical; Dorothy Howe of Bainbridge, marketing management; 

Vontressa Thomas of Cordele, medical assisting; Eric Siegler of Cordele, practical nursing; and Montay Reid of Cordele, welding and joining technology.

Each nominee received a framed certificate and a “Student of Excellence” t-shirt. A reception following the program was held to honor all the nominees.
