CORDELE — Winning is a proud tradition for JROTC cadets that form the drill teams and color guard of the Cougar Battalion at Crisp County High School.
Since the program’s beginning in the 1990’s the group has dominated region competition and gone on to compete at the state level. There have also been a number of occasions when the team has taken the win at state as well.
During this year’s region match in Worth County, the drill teams kept their winning streak alive for the 17th consecutive year. The color guard, who placed third in region, will also go to state.
“We are extremely excited about their accomplishment,” said Maj. Bridgeman Lloyd. “They really work hard and we are hopeful that things go well and we can bring back another state title.”
“We really like having the opportunity to travel and meet other people,” said Cadet Command Sergeant Major Greg Prunty. “Plus the drill team has taught us about discipline and being part of a team.”
