CORDELE — Two local juveniles face charges of burglary after police officials catch them in the act. Just before 6 p.m. Saturday, Cpl. Jesse Barfield of the Cordele Police Department responded to two juveniles looking in the windows of a residence on West 18th Avenue. Upon arrival Barfield noticed two black males in the back yard with their hands in the window.
One of the juveniles began to walk away and was ordered to stop, but instead took off running south. The second juvenile, when ordered to stop complied, and that was when Barfield noticed that the juvenile had a cut on his hand, from breaking the window. When asked if he needed EMS assistance the juvenile responded that he did not and was placed in the back of squad car.
A description of the first juvenile and the direction in which he fled was given out. Lt. Louis New, of the Cordele Police Department caught up with the juvenile in the 19 1/2 alley at Hickory Street. The subject was riding a bicycle he had apparently stolen from a East 20th Avenue address. Lt. New transported the juvenile for treatment after noticing that he also had cuts to his hand from the window. He was then transported, under the instruction of DJJ officer Oliver, to the Youth Detention center. He is charged with Burglary, Obstruction of an Officer, and Theft by taking. The other juvenile was charged with Burglary and released into the custody of his parents pending a meeting with DJJ officers today.
