CORDELE — Easter Seals of Southern Georgia Development Coordinator Rosalyn Horne unveiled this year’s City of Cordele Christmas ornament at the Cordele Rotary Club meeting Wednesday.
The gold ornament, the fourth in a series, features Cordele’s famous Titan missile which was brought to the city by the Rotary Club 40 years ago.
Ms. Horne said 250 of the ornaments are available and may be purchased for $15 each. “You can rest assured,” she said, “that all sales will benefit children and adults served by Easter Seals.”
For four years, that organization has worked with the city of Cordele to produce the city’s official ornament.
The first one which featured a watermelon has sold out. Other ornaments featuring Cordelia Hawkins and the power dam are still available. These plus the new one may be purchased from the Easter Seal website, Ms. Horne said.
A Rotary Club meeting was selected for this year’s unveiling since that group was responsible for bringing the Titan missile to Cordele.
Easter Seals of Southern Georgia serves 54 south Georgia counties and provides an opportunity for developmentally disabled individuals to live independently in 10 group homes and apartments scattered around the 54 counties, Ms. Horne said.
