From STAFF REPORTS
ROCHELLE — Anonymous tips led to a raid that resulted in the seizure of “a large amount of crack cocaine” and the arrest of a suspected drug dealer here last week.
Patricia Curry, age 39, of a Stephens Street address, was arrested last Thursday on charges of possession of cocaine with intent to distribute, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.
According to the Wilcox County Sheriff’s Office, Curry had been under investigation for some time and was free on bond from previous charges at the time of her arrest.
Curry’s bond stipulated that she was subject to a search by law enforcement officers at any time. When Wilcox County Sheriff’s Office investigators learned Curry was reportedly selling illegal drugs out of her residence, Sheriff Stacy C. Bloodsworth decided to conduct the raid with the assistance of the South Central Drug Task Force.
“We will continue to pursue these drug dealers in our county. If you deal drugs in Wilcox County, sooner or later we will catch you,” Bloodsworth said. “With the cooperation of our community and the hard work of our deputies we will continue to be successful in catching these dealers.”
According to reports from the Wilcox County Sheriff’s Office, the search of Curry’s residence turned up a large amount of crack cocaine along with an undisclosed amount of cash and a pistol. The Sheriff’s Office also seized two vehicles belonging to Curry.
Curry is currently being held at the Wilcox County Jail.
Bloodsworth urges anyone with information concerning drugs in Wilcox County to contact either the Wilcox County Sheriff’s Office at 229-467-2322 or the South Central Georgia Drug Task Force at 229-424-0000.
