VIENNA — Over the last two weeks there have been a total of six burglaries reported here, and most of the suspects are juveniles.
Jamey Reed, interim police chief for the City of Vienna, received information regarding one of the burglaries. Further investigation proved fruitful and a juvenile suspect was implicated in the burglary.
“Based on some of the items taken like Playstation and XBox 360 consoles and games, along with the manner in which the burglaries occurred we were led to believe there was juvenile involvement. We received information from one of the victim’s relatives and that initially broke the case.”
Reed said he made contact with one of the suspected juvenile burglars and his parents at the Vienna Police Department. During the interview the juvenile confessed to his part in all six of the burglaries.
The juvenile even went further and provided the department with the names of several other juveniles who were allegedly involved on various levels with some of the six reported burglaries.
A small portion of the stolen property has been recovered and the investigation is ongoing.
“We have not obtained all the stolen merchandise,” Reed commented. “Some of the items were destroyed or discarded. They were also passed between the homes of the suspects.”
If anyone has any information concerning any burglary case within the city of Vienna or any other reported crime, they are asked to contact the Vienna Police Department at (229) 268-7033. All calls are strictly confidential, Reed says.
