Woman assaulted, car stolen at Wal-Mart

CORDELE — A woman reported that she was assaulted and that her car was stolen from the parking lot at Wal-Mart on Friday afternoon.
A Cordele Police Department report revealed that the incident happened at approximately 2 p.m.
The suspect, who was identified by the victim, reportedly stole her 1996 Plymouth Horizon after assaulting her.
The complainant said she first made contact with the suspect inside Wal-Mart when he inquired about purchasing her car.
She then accompanied the suspect to her car, she said, and they began to talk about the vehicle. According to the report, the man then began to strike the woman with his fist, dazing her.
She said he drove away in the car along with a person believed to be his wife. The victim did not give police a direction of travel, and the vehicle had not been located at press time.
