ROCHELLE — Law enforcement officials awakened several Wilcox County residents to serve drug arrest warrants on them during an early Friday morning drug bust.
Agents with the South Central Drug Task Force were joined by Wilcox County Sheriff’s deputies and officers from the Rochelle Police Department in the operation which kicked off at around 5:30 a.m. Three hours later, five out of six suspects were in custody.
Charged were Tushae Childs, 24; Keith Roberts, 31; Donnell Holmes, 36; Derrio Curry, 21; and 49-year-old Calvin Melvin. All five suspects are from Rochelle and all five were charged with possession of cocaine with intent to distribute.
All five suspects were apprehended without incident, except Childs, who attempted to flee when officers arrived. He was quickly apprehended by officers and taken into custody.
The suspects were taken to the Wilcox County Jail where they were booked in.
Their arrests were part of an ongoing investigation into illegal drug activity in Wilcox County.
