ROCHELLE — Students at Wilcox County High School were surprised earlier this month when law enforcement officers and drug agents conducted a search for drugs at the school.
According to reports, the search included lockers, vehicles parked on campus and the school grounds. The good news is, no drugs were found.
Wilcox County Sheriff Stacy Bloodsworth said there will be searches such as this done on a regular basis to ensure the safety of the students in Wilcox County schools and the entire community.
Assisting in the search were K9 units from the Ben Hill County Sheriff’s Office, Wilcox County Sheriff’s Office, Rochelle Police Department and the South Central Drug Task Force.
Since April 1, the task force has made 10 drug arrests in Wilcox County and is continually asking for help from the public in helping keep drugs off the street in the county.
