Police probe shooting, attempted robbery cases

Cordele — Police are continuing their investigation into the Saturday night shooting of a local night club employee.

An activity report released by the department for the period between Friday and early Tuesday identified the victim of the aggravated assault as Bobby Fenn, 49.

According to the news release, officers were dispatched to The Game Room at 208 11th St. S. just after 9 p.m. Upon arrival, they found Fenn had been shot both in the chest and in the ankle.

From what little information they were able to gather at the time, the responding officers were told three males in dark clothing entered the room shooting while Fenn was reportedly in the process of clothing. The trio is said to have fled after a brief struggle.

The incident report noted the motive behind the shooting is still unclear and that no further description of the gunmen was provided as both the victim and witnesses were not very cooperative with the officers.

Fenn was initially taken by ambulance to Crisp Region Hospital and then later transferred to an undisclosed acute facility for treatment of what is believed to be a serious large caliber wound to his foot.

The bullet that struck Fenn in the upper torso is believed to have been fired from a small caliber weapon.

Spokespersons for the Medical Center of Central Georgia in Macon and Phoebe Putney and Phoebe North in Albany said they had no record of Fenn being a patient at their facilities.

Anyone having information that may help police make resolve the case is asked to call headquarters at 276-2921.

In other activity within the past five days, officers:

— Responded to an attempted early Monday morning robbery at All Stretched Out Taxi at 1009 Seventh St. S.

Driver, Richard Boyd called police just after 7 a.m. to report that as he was exiting the premises a black male came from behind the building and attempted to snatch his bank bag.

After a brief struggle, the suspect who was wearing a dark sweater and blue jeans fled west on 21st Ave. He was described as approximately 5-foot-9 with dark skln, a stocky build and low  cut hair.

— Made two shoplifting arrests on Sunday.

Chelsey Gay, 20, of 110 14th Ave. W., was charged with two counts of that offense after concealing items in Dollar General. During investigation, it was found she was still in possession of items that had been stolen from that location two days earlier.

Angela Martin, meanwhile, was charged with shoplifting at Walmart after allegedly removing undisclosed items from that store.

— Investigated burglaries at 132 W. Wall St. and 6-2 16th Ave. E. and thefts at 813 16th Ave. E., 1024 16th Ave. E. and 108 20th Ave. W. No information was revealed as to what, if anything, was stolen in those crimes or how access was gained to those properties.

— Cited Linda Walker, 62, of 909 12th St. S., for a second offense of disorderly conduct after she reportedly caused a drunken disturbance on Saturday.

— Levied criminal trespass charges against apparent sisters Kandace, 20, and Kimberly, 18, Buckles of 1416 Sheppard Court after an argument between them resulted in two broken cell phones.

— Booked David Jones, 56, no address listed, and Benison Florence, 46, of 614 Third Ave. E., for failure to appear in Cordele City Court to face unspecified charges previously made against them.

— Issued five traffic citations to Alonza Towns, 25, of 1205 13th St. S.
