DOT announces proposed construction activities

TIFTON — Contractors for the Georgia Department of Transportation will perform major reconstruction of Interstate 75 at different locations between Exit 37/Adel-Old Quitman Road and the Crisp/Dooly County line.

To ensure motorists and contractor safety, this work will warrant lane closures and traffic shifts along this section of I-75, which could cause short delays. However, there are no lane closures scheduled from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Beginning at 7 p.m., Monday, Dec. 21, contractors will begin relocating the I-75 north Exit 102 off ramp and the Exit 104 on ramp, weather permitting.

Construction activities are tentatively planned for Dec. 19-25 that could include lane closures from Exit 99/SR 300 to the Dooly County line.

This project requires much of the project shoulders to be temporarily closed with barrier walls. Emergency pull offs will be provided at various locations throughout the project between the Crisp/Dooly County line and mile marker 98.

Lane closures also are planned for Hwy. 300 in Worth County.

From 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday, Dec. 21 and Tuesday, Dec. 22, S.R. 300 between Warwick and the Dougherty County Line, single lane closures are scheduled, weather permitting. Contractor crews will be completing shoulder and median crossover work.

The Georgia DOT notes that the above construction schedules are proposed activities planned by the contractors and may change due to weather conditions or other factors.

As in any work zone, motorists are reminded to pay special attention to traffic control devices, signs and posted speed limits to ensure safe passage through the work zone.

Georgia DOT urges travelers to call 511 for updated information about any other construction projects on interstates and state routes.

Georgia 511 is a free phone service that provides real-time traffic and travel information statewide, such as traffic conditions, incidents, lane closures, and delays due to inclement weather.
