VIENNA — Five Crisp and Dooly County residents have issued a Christmas challenge.
Vienna natives Billy Granville and Michael Hardy, Layfield Buckholtz of Unadilla, Major John Wiggins with the Crisp County Sheriff’s Department and John Manning, a member of American Legion Post 542 in Cordele are challenging all court judges, district attorneys, city and elected officials, uniformed officers, and firefighters in the two counties to be a “blessing to a needy child.”
These individuals and anyone else who would like to be included in the project are asked to deliver a child’s gift to the Dooly County Courthouse in Vienna between 9 a.m. and 12 noon this Saturday, Dec. 19 or to the Crisp County Courthouse between 12:30 and 3:30 p.m.
Granville explained, “We also need volunteers to distribute gifts that are donated.”
Furthermore, the organizers of this campaign are challenging ministers to inform their congregations about this project.
“We are hoping that we can help two children in each church receive gifts if they are available,” Granville said. “We will continue collecting presents for the children in the two county area through Dec. 23.”
For more information, Granville may be contacted at 229-296-6548. Other contacts are Michael Hardy at 229-296-3439 and Layfield Buckholtz at 478-244-0518.
Granville concluded by saying, “It’s a blessing to be blessed.”
