PITTS — One area family is beginniing the process of starting over after a fire destroyed their home over the weekend. Johnathan Guest and his wife, Jennifer, had attended church service on Sunday evening only to come home and find smoke coming from their roof.
Pitts, Rochelle and Abbeville Fire Departments, along with the Wilcox State Prison, were dispatched to the scene on Cleveland Avenue in Pitts. At the time of arrival flames could also be seen coming from the roof. Firefighters worked at the scene for several hours to extinguish the blaze. The home was a total loss.
The family was able to retrieve a few things from the home. The couple have two small girls. Efforts are being made by local churches and citizens, along with the Red Cross to assist this family.
