Christmas trees donated to Fort Benning soldiers

FORT BENNING, Ga. (AP) — Christmas trees are set to be distributed to active duty soldiers and their families at Georgia's Fort Bennning.

The Trees for Troops program plans to distribute nearly 700 trees at the base on Tuesday. The program is sponsored by the Christmas SPIRIT Foundation and FedEx Corp.

This marks the fourth year in a row that Christmas tree growers and retailers around the country have donated trees for military families.

Last year, more than 700 farms in 29 states donated 17,082 Christmas trees to 53 military installations in three countries.
