CORDELE — Burglars stole a pistol and food from one residence and took a flat screen television set from another in incidents Cordele Police Department officers were asked to investigate this past Thursday.
A resident of the 600 block of 12th Ave. W. told Sgt. Charles Pheil that someone forced their way through the back door to gain access to his home and then broke a lock off his daughter’s bedroom door.
Taken were a 9 MM semiautomatic pistol that was removed from a fanny pack left hanging on the inside of the daughter’s bedroom door and various amounts of meat that were taken from the refrigerator.
At a Seven Springs Drive apartment, a woman told Lt. Marvin Milner that while she was away for about one-half hour someone broke a north window in order to gain access to a Magnavox 42-inch TV valued at $1,200.
Fortunately for the complainant the TV was soon recovered as several children in the area told the officer they had seen three subjects running east from the apartment with the television.
Further investigation led to the TV being found hidden in bushes near a containment fence in the apartment complex.
In other activity that day, officers:
—Investigated a financial card fraud case.
Sgt. Carrie Lull cited Erskine Antoine Ramsey, 17, of 901 Richardson St., with financial transaction card fraud and identity theft after he allegedly used his step-father’s bank card to purchase $146 in minutes for his cell phone.
— Looked into a reported theft outside Cordele Super Market on 24th Ave. W.
The complainant told PFC Clinton Latham he gave a man he identified by first name only $50 to go into the store and purchase him some beer. Instead of doing so, however, the offender reportedly ran from the scene with the money in hand.
