From STAFF REPORTS
CORDELE — Rather routine. Records indicate that’s the kind of weekend that Cordele Police Department personnel spent Friday through Sunday.
An activity report for that periods shows officers:
— Received two vandalism complaints involving automobiles.
A resident of the 500 block of 13th Ave. W. told Sgt. Jeremy Taylor that sometime between 9:30 p.m. Thursday and 7:30 a.m. Friday two deep scratches had been made on her 2002 Honda Accord.
The victim was unsure if the damage was done while the car was parked at her home or while it was at South Georgia Tech where she is a student.
A second resident told Sgt. Jeremy Taylor that while her 2001 Ford Explorer was parked in the 1300 block of 11th St. S. Saturday afternoon someone keyed it from the driver’s side passenger door to the end of the rear fender.
— Investigated a half-dozen theft complaints.
A local resident told Sgt. Charles Hill that while he was inside a 16th Ave. W. convenience store for about two minutes early Friday afternoon someone stole a bicycle he had left outside. Described as a blue 26-inch, 18-speed Magnum model, the bike is valued at $100.
Two residents of the 400 block of Fifth Ave. W. reported thefts.
The victim of the first reported incident told Sgt. Hill that a relative she named had taken her pocketbook valued at $100 and had sold it for $10. The second victim told Sgt. Green his government-issued cell phone had been taken. He provided the officer with the name of the person he thinks took it.
A customer of a Seventh St. S. convenience food store told Sgt. Robert Green that someone took his AT&T; Motorola Razor cell from the counter when he accidentally left it there momentarily.
Another cell phone theft was reported to Lt. New just before 8:30 p.m. Saturday by a resident of the 500 block of 17th Ave. W.
A mailbox was taken from a residence of the 600 block of 24th Ave. E. Saturday afternoon, according to Sgt. Green who informed the resident there his mailbox was missing.
— Cited a Cordele man with littering after observing him throw a plastic cup on the ground moments after he had poured out the contents when asked what he was drinking while outside the American Legion at 610 10 St. S.
Lt. New made the case shortly after 12:30 a.m. Saturday against William Hardemon, 31, of 2116 10th St. S.
— Filed disorderly conduct charges against five persons.
Sgt. Carrie Lull cited Lakesia Cheyenne Trotter, 29, and Coneluis Defonta Law, 24, both of 602-F Blackshear Rd. after being called to their residence shortly after 2 a.m. Saturday to investigate a disturbance.
Sgt. Robert Montgomery issued citations for that offense to Barbara Prenell Price, 44, and Jackie Denise Flores, 52, of 312-B 14th Ave. W., after being called to the latter’s address at 3:45 a.m. Saturday in reference to a disturbance. Price also was cited on a previous contempt of court charge.
Sgt. Carrie Lull cited Tanisha Mason, 23, of 503 N.10th St., for that offense after responding to a Saturday night disturbance in the 300 block of that same street. She allegedly pushed and slapped another woman during an argument about the way the victim treats a juvenile in her custody.
— Went to Crisp Regional Hospital just before 4:30 a.m. Sunday when an apparent assault victim sought treatment for his injuries.
Sgt. Robert Montgomery said the obviously intoxicated man, who had a bloody nose and a knot on his head, told him he was somewhere on 21st Ave. W. when he was attacked by an unknown person. He said he didn’t know who had taken him to the emergency room.
— Issued a speeding ticket to Brian Keith Oneil, 50, of Jacksonville, Fla., after Cpl. Kristan Herrick reportedly clocked him traveling 94 mph near mile marker 101 on I-75. It was also learned Cook County had a warrant for him for a previous speeding offense.
— Received a shoplifting complaint from Fred’s Dollar Store where an employee told Sgt. Green she had caught Erica Denise Dennis, 27, of 508-C Sixth Ave. E., trying to take two DVDs, two tubes of Blistex and a headphone set.
— Responded to complaints that shots were being fired in the area of 22nd Ave. W. and 11th St. S. Sunday afternoon.
Sergeants Jeremy Taylor and Carrie Lull were given the identity of the person reportedly responsible for at least one of the offenses but could not locate him.
— Said a resident of the Sunset Homes Apartments suffered injuries when allegedly assaulted by her boyfriend shortly after 4 a.m. Monday.
The victim told Sgt. Robert Montgomery the offender grabbed her by the hair, threw her to the floor and punched her in the face. The officer said he is requesting that a simple battery (family violence) warrant be issued for the offender.
