CORDELE — Thieves made off with items valued at almost $1,500 after breaking into a Cordele Mini-Storage unit Tuesday.
Cordele Police Department records show the complainant told officers the door lock was cut to gain entry, Missing are a king-size oak bed, a twin bed with a hot air balloon pattern on the mattress, a True flat-screen TV, a coach and love seat, two Magnavox DVD players and a drum set.
In other police activity on Tuesday, officers:
— Arrested Stevie Eugene Sanders, 35, of 216 27th Ave. W. on an outstanding warrant for non-payment of child support.
Sanders was taken into custody as the result of officers investigating complaints from local Subway employees that Sanders had called both stores to make threatening remarks.
— Received a vandalism complaint from the Two Sisters Cafe owner who told Sgt. Jeremy Taylor someone struck the front window and did minor damage to that business Tuesday night.
She also complained of having trouble with patrons of a nearby nightspot loitering in the front and back of her store at night, leaving empty beer bottles on her property and urinating in the bushes. She requested additional night time patrol by officers.
— Gave advice to a woman asking an unusual question while visiting the police station Tuesday afternoon.
The query involved possible removal methods for a “hex” put on her by a palm reader. Lt. Louis New and Sgt. Carrie Lull gave her different options to solve her problem.
