Wilcox man arrested
ROCHELLE — Kevin Thomas Poss, 30 of Rochelle was arrested last week after Investigators from the South Central Drug Task Force and deputies from the Wilcox County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant at his residence.
Poss has been charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, manufacturing marijuana, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and two counts of cruelty to children.
Investigators closed out a multi-month investigation when the search warrant was executed. Upon entering the residence, they were able to locate an undetermined amount of marijuana, items used for the manufacture/growth of marijuana, and two firearms. There were also two juvenile children in the residence where these items were located.
Wilcox County Sheriff Stacy C. Bloodsworth stated, “I’ve said time and again, if you deal drugs in Wilcox County, sooner or later we are going to catch you. Drugs will not be tolerated in our county.”
Bloodsworth added, “I’m very pleased with the work of the task force and of my deputies. They are still getting out there everyday and working hard for this community in spite of all the financial trouble the county is having.
“I want the citizens of Wilcox County to know that we are going to continue to do the job that they expect from us, and do it in a professional manner, no matter what.”
The sheriff urges anyone with information about drug activity to call the Wilcox County Sheriff’s Office at 229-467-2322, or the South Central Drug Task Force at 229-424-0000. Callers may remain anonymous.
