CORDELE — Gang participation was among a list of charges made against four persons arrested by Cordele Police Department officers early Sunday morning after they allegedly spray painted Hibbett Sports.
In responding to a report of the vandaiism, Cpl. Kristan Herrick said he and Sgt. Charles Pheil spotted two white males wearing black shirts fleeing the area on foot. The officers gave chase and caught that pair and then after a brief investigation took two additional suspects into custody.
Adam Wayne McDougle, 30, of Colquitt, Ga., and Donald Wayne Jackson III, 19, of 229 Dowdy Rd., Cordele, were charged with participation in criminal street gang activity, second degree criminal damage to property, possession of tools (spray paint cans) for the commission of a crime and obstruction of officers.
Johnathan Corey Mallard, 21, of 1307 Coney Rd. S., was cited for gang participation, criminal damage to property and possession of less than an ounce of marijuana.
Brodney Jamal Fullwood, 19, of 1603 Coney Rd. S., was charged with gang participation and second degree criminal damage to property.
All four suspects admitted to being a member of the Soldiers of Chaos (S.O.C.) Gang, the arresting officers said.
In other activity during the past weekend, officers:
— Said an estimated $3,800 worth of articles was stolen from a unit forced open at Turton Mini-Storage located at 1212 13th Ave. E.
The property owner told Lt. Frank Wise she discovered the forced entry and theft shortly after 10 a.m. Friday and said it had taken place sometime earlier in the week.
Listed as missing were a Dell computer, a Frigidaire refrigerator, a glasstop stove, a washing machine, a 32-inch Sanyo TV, and Emerson DVD player and a JVC VCR/DVD combination unit.
— Made several assorted arrests.
Quarnelius Newberry, 25, of Ashburn, was apprehended Saturday night by Sgt. Charles Dennard on an auto theft charge. Newberry is accused of taking a 1997 Chevrolet Tahoe from Maultsby and Harris Funeral Home Service at 707 Joe Wright Dr.
Lt. Carrie Lull and Sgt. Charles Pheil said Stevenson Williams, 34, of 906 Eighth St. N., was taken into custody just before 9 p.m. Friday for terroristic threats, pointing a gun at another and probation in connection with an earlier incident police had investigated.
Cpl. Marcus Sales cited Ieasha Rashaud Brown, 19, of 706 Church St., for probation violation.
— Received a burglary complaint.
An apartment resident in the 600 block of 23rd Ave. W. told Lt. Wise someone entered her home by unknown means and stole almost $1,350 worth of assorted items.
Among the missing goods are a Sponge Bob color TV, a 12-inch Symphonic color TV, a 9-inch TV of unknown brand, 30-40 DVDs, a 12,000-BTU air conditioner and a 6,000-BTU air conditioner.
— Looked into six theft complaints.
A resident of the 400 block of Sixth Ave. W. told Sgt. Charles Pheil her son’s Playstation PSP had been removed from the home without permission. The mother gave the officer the name of a juvenile suspect who told her he wasn’t responsible for the theft.
A guest of the Express Inn told Cpl. Bruce Gourley that someone stole a Dell computer system and 19-inch monitor from the back seat of his car sometime Friday night or early Saturday.
A second guest of the motel told Sgt. Pheil that his cell phone had been stolen from his room on Aug 11 and that a third party had contacted him wanting $20 for its return.
A guest of the Country Inn and Suites told Lt. Marvin Milner that sometime between 8 p.m. Saturday and 8 a.m. Sunday someone broke into his car and stole a $300 Jensen DVD player, a $225 Alpine CD player and a $500 2000-watt stereo amplifier.
A similar complaint was made by a resident of the 200 block of Bass St. where someone broke into her car and stole the radio from it.
A resident of the 800 block of 17th Ave. W. told Sgt. Pheil shortly after 3 a.m. Monday that someone had stolen a Frigidaire brand air conditioner from her home.
— Made disorderly conduct cases against Passionese Paul, 18, of 2301 Sheppard Rd., and a 16-year-old girl as the result of their participation in a Saturday night fight near 17th Avenue and Fleming Rd.
— Took a 15-year-old girl into custody after receiving two separate complaints that she continues to be disrespectful to her mother. Sgt. Pheil cited the teen-ager for unruly juvenile and runaway juvenile.
— Probed a $35.03 gas drive-off at Phoenix Horizons located in the 2300 block of S. Hwy. 300.
A clerk told Lt. Marvin Milner a black couple traveling in a small black sedan was responsible for the theft that took place just before 7:30 a.m. Saturday.
— Learned that vandals “keyed” a 2002 Honda Accord parked at the Cloverdale Circle residence of its owner and slashed tires on three vehicles left overnight Saturday on the Woodstone Apartments parking lot.
