Dunbar loses life in wreck

Vienna — The Dispatch has learned that Lonnie Dunbar of Vienna was killed in a two-vehicle wreck in Thomas County early this morning.

Dunbar's brother-in-law and wife were carrying him to Tallahassee for eye surgery about 7:40 a.m. when the accident occurred at the intersection of the U. S. 84 bypass and the Hwy. 319 bypass.

From what we understand, his wife and brother-in-law are seriously injured.

According to a trooper with the Thomasville state patrol post, the Dunbars were westbound on 84 when the driver of their vehicle made an improper left turn and an eastbound truck struck the passenger side of their car.

He confirmed there was a fatality, two critical injuries and two minor injuries in the mishap. He would not release the names, but word reached Vienna through relatives.
