Cordele —
A 21-year-old Cordele man faces a trio of charges as the result of a domestic altercation he had shortly before noon Wednesday with his girlfriend at the Suwanee House Apartments.
Cordele Police Department records show Dino Ladon Lemmons Jr., 21, of 108 S. Ross St. is accused of striking the victim in the face, choking her and pulling her hair.
When she tried to report the incident to 911, Lemmons reportedly took her cell phone, refused to let her make the call and then fled the scene with her phone.
A neighbor hearing the commotion contacted the apartment manager who, in turn, alerted police who after later taking Lemmons into custody found the victim’s cell phone in his possession.
Charges against him are theft by taking, battery and obstruction or hindrance of a person making an emergency telephone call.
In other activity on Wednesday, officers:
—Received theft complaints filed from 714 Fourth Ave. E., 713 17th Ave. W. and 906 Eighth St. N.
— Charged Whitney Muncy, 20, of 262 Weldon Rd., with shoplifting after allegedly taking items from Walmart without making payment for them.
— Arrested Heather Ann King, 36, of 605 Second St. N., on a Wilcox County warrant for failure to appear.
— Cited Darryl Daquan Taylor, 24, of 622 23rd Ave. E., for theft by taking.
