CORDELE — Crisp County Sheriff Donnie Haralson has charged two local men with murder in connection with the deaths of two subjects whose bodies were discovered earlier this week in the Blackshear Rd. E. vicinity.
Corey Dennis, age 26 and his 27 year old brother, Amin Dennis, both of an East 4th Ave. address were taken into custody Thursday, Haralson said. Both subjects have been charged with two counts of murder and are currently being held in the Crisp County Detention Center, he said. Other charges are pending.
Law enforcement officers were able to determine that both murder victims died from apparent gunshot wounds. One of the victims has been identified as Harold Reese Jr., age 36 of a W. 18th Ave. address.
The body of the other victim was burned so badly that he could not be readily identified. Haralson said that body has been sent to the state crime lab, and an autopsy should determine the identity.
Haralson and his deputies were called to the Blackshear Rd./Airport Rd. area of the county early Wednesday morning where a jogger had discovered a smoldering vehicle. Inside that charred SUV was a badly burned body.
Agents with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation were notified, and they immediately joined the investigation.
Early Thursday morning, a second body was discovered in the same area that the vehicle had been found. Later in the day, that victim was identified as Harold Reese Jr.
Haralson praised his department, along with the GBI, Cordele Police Department, Cordele Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office, State Fire Marshall, Crisp County Fire Rescue, and the Georgia State Patrol Aviation Division for their “diligent work” that led to the quick arrest of the Dennis brothers.
