Cordele — Jody Pate, 4th grade teacher at Southwestern Elementary, led a recent parent workshop on improving math skills. She shared with the parents how students are transitioning from Georgia Performance Standards to Common Core Standards. The parents learned about strategies and techniques they could use to reinforce skills and encourage higher order thinking. Everyone left with pamphlets that contained apps and websites that could be used at home.
