Loud music cause resident big problems

From STAFF REPORTS

CORDELE — Loud music ultimately led to a trio of charges being filed Wednesday against an uncooperative resident.

Cordele Police Department Lt. Louis New said he was in the 300 block of First Ave. W. just before 9:30 p.m. when he heard loud music and profane language coming from the 400 block of Oak Ave. W.

Upon arriving at the residence where the noise was coming from, the officer said he made contact with James Beach, 46, who when asked what his specific address was told the officer to “look at my mailbox.”

After several attempts to get Beach’s date of birth and address, New said he placed him under arrest for loud music. As the officer was walking Beach to his vehicle, he said a dog came out of the yard and started growling and barking.

New said when he made a comment to Beach about the dog, he was told he and fellow officer Sgt. Robert Montgomery, who also responded to the scene when several individuals gathering in the yard caused a commotion, had “better not shoot my dog.”

At that point, New said additional citations of animal at large and state rabies violation were issued to Beach.

In an otherwise unusually quite Wednesday and early Thursday, officers responded to a reported assault that occurred around 4:30 p.m. in the alley way of the 300 block of 24th Ave. W.

The victim told Sgt. Charles Hill that while walking in that area two black males assaulted him. He was able to give a partial name of one of the offenders but said he did not know anything about the other that he described only as a “light-skinned black male.”
