Cordele —
Crisp Area Arts Alliance (CAAA) sponsored a performance recently by Valdosta State University’s theatre & dance group at Southwestern and A.S. Clark Elementary schools.
“Free to be...You and Me” is VSU theatre & dance’s 2013 “Theatre for Young Audiences” production, and the group has been performing throughout the state.
Instead of telling children who they should be, “Free to Be...You and Me” opens them up to the possibilities of who they could be.
Music and humor, along with life-enhancing themes, help to expand children’s personal horizons, enabling them to invent their own futures without limitation, while dispelling some old constraints and worn-out conventions in the process.
A timeless classic for kids of all ages, “Free to Be...You and Me” is appropriate for all ages. The VSU production is supported in part by an Arts Education in American Communities Grant from the National Endowment for the Arts.
Sponsoring events such as this is a part of CAAA’s commitment to provide community opportunities for arts appreciation, celebrating and advocating the arts and their invaluable effect on civic engagement, economic development, and education.
