Vienna — A ceremony honoring Veterans was held outside the Dooly County Courthouse this morning. LTC Bob Koeter, commander of the Dooly County JROTC welcomed those in attendance and led the assembly in the Pledge of Allegiance after the Dooly County Bobcat Band played the National Anthem.
An invocation followed by Rev. Arthur West and LTC Koester returned to recognize Veterans in attendance at the ceremony. Larista Thompson of Vienna Better Hometown, introduced her stepfather, Dr. Bob Latimer as the speaker for the event. He encouraged everyone to remember and honor the sacrifices of Veterans.
JROTC cadets presented a wreath, that was place at the memorial. The band played the Armed Forces Medley followed by the reading of the proclamation by Thompson, in the absence of Mayor Eddie Daniels. A moment of silence was observed in memory of those who have given the ultimate sacrifice for our country. Rev West offered a benediction.
