Cordele —
Dispatched to a local apartment complex early Tuesday to remove two unauthorized persons from a unit there, Cordele Police Department officers arrested a couple for drug and other offenses.
Chief Bobby Hooper said that in responding to a 5 a.m. call that non-residents were at Woodvale Apartments his officers found Shannon Deen Casteel and Michelle Sawyer at the home of Casteel’s grandmother.
When Casteel tried to flee the scene, Hooper said he had to be tased. During an apparent patdown search that followed, he was reportedly found to be in possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.
Casteel, 32, and Sawyer, 36, who resides at 191 Floyd Rd., were charged with purchase, possession or having under their control any controlled substance and a parole violation. An additional citation of hindering a law enforcement officer was made against Casteel.
In a Monday incident investigated by police, an assortment of charges was levied against Henry Lee Morris Jr., 39, of 208 Roosevelt St. in Warwick.
His citations were for driving with a suspended or revoked license, no insurance, violation of headlight requirements and removing or affixing a license plate with the intent to conceal or misrepresent ownership of a vehicle.
