Cordele —
Local police and agents with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation are in search of information leading to the person/persons responsible for the shooting death of a woman here Sunday night.
According to reports from Special Agent in Charge Trebor Randle of the GBI, a 911 call was received at 11:58 p.m. on Sunday night in regards to a shooting. Law enforcement personnel were dispatched to the scene at 510 West 23rd Avenue, Apt. E. in the Sunset Homes complex.
Upon arrival, officers discovered that 39 year old Cynthia Curtis had been shot. Curtis was transported by EMS to Crisp Regional Hospital where she was later pronounced dead.
“An autopsy was conducted today,” said Agent Randle in a phone interview Wednesday afternoon. “We do not have the full report back yet but the preliminary results indicate that Curtis died as a result of two gunshot wounds.”
Randle said that at this time no arrests have been made. Currently officials are attempting to identify and locate for questioning two men seen in a housing authority surveillance video that was filmed in close proximity to Curtis’ apartment.
“We are asking that anyone with information please contact the Cordele Police Department or the Georgia Bureau of Investigation,” said Randle.
Those calls can be made to the Cordele Police Department at (229) 273-3102 or the GBI office in Americus at (229) 931-2439.
