Cordele —
Funeral services for Warrena M. Matthews of Cordele will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, August 31, 2010 in the chapel of Rainey Family Funeral Service. Burial will follow in Sunnyside Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Mrs. Matthews, 85, died Friday at Magnolia Manor in Americus.
Born in Irwin County, she was the daughter of the late Warren R. and Martha Sutton Mixon. Mrs. Matthews was retired from the Crisp County Department of Family and Children's Services and was a member of Cordele First United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her two sons and daughters-in-law, Jeff and Tina Matthews of Douglasville and Jimmy and Lynn Matthews of Athens; four grandchildren, Thomas Matthews, Walker Matthews and his wife, Allie, Charles Matthews and Mary Matthews; and a brother, Harry Mixon and his wife, Lila of Ocilla.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James B. Matthews and two sisters, Colleen Mathis and Virginia Claire Hurt.
