Eugene Rodolph “Butch” Parker, Jr.

Cordele — During the service pre-recorded music of “Harvest Moon” by Neil Young and “Will The Circle Be Unbroken” by Gregg Allman was played.  Rod Stewart’s “In My Life” was played at the close.

Pallbearers were members of Crisp Academy’s Junior Varsity Football Team, son Joey Parker, Eli Mixon, Jim Hartin, Grant Owens, Cleve Bass, Andrew Pless, Brinson Webb, and John Wright,  and their coaches, Joel Owens and Cliff Hearn.  Serving as honorary pallbearers were the Crisp Academy Girls Basketball Team. The committal service followed in Sunnyside Cemetery.

Mr. Parker, 54, died at his residence Thursday. Born in Camilla, he was the son of Eugene Rodolph Parker, Sr. and the late Martha Bramlett Parker. After graduating in 1974 from Westwood Academy, he then graduated from Gupton Jones Mortuary School and later from Albany Tech as an X-ray technician. He was a CT Tech (RET) at Houston Medical Center in Perry and a member of Pinecrest Baptist Church.

Mr. Parker is survived by his wife, Fran Nesbitt Parker of Cordele; four children, Molly Parker and Joey Parker, both of Cordele and Pat Parker and Bubba Parker, both of Camilla; his father, Eugene Parker, Sr. of Camilla; and two  brothers, Jim Parker and Raymon Parker, both of Camilla.  He was preceded in death by a brother, Pat Parker and a sister, Linda Parker.

The family requests that anyone wishing to make memorials in Butch's honor may send them to Crisp Academy, 150 Crisp Academy Drive, Cordele, GA 31015.  Rainey Family Funeral Service  handled these arrangements.  Family and friends may post their condolences on-line at www.raineyfuneral.com
