To kick off the new year, Georgia Veterans State Park will conduct a first day hike Tuesday, Jan. 1 at 2 p.m.
Hikers should meet at the activity shelter in the campground for an hour and a half guided hike on park trails. The program fee is $1 per person, and the first 50 participants will receive a free water bottle.
Several Georgia state parks are offering this program in conjunction with a nationwide effort to promote ranger-led hikes on New Year’s Day.
