Atlanta —
House Speaker David Ralston has announced the appointment of Jerry Carney of Cordele to the Citizens Review Panel for the River Valley special transportation district which includes both Crisp and Dooly counties.
Carney is a member of the board of directors for the Cordele-Crisp Chamber of Commerce and the Crisp County Planning and Zoning Appeals Board.
He received his associate’s degree from Hillsborough Community College in Tampa, FL and his bachelor’s degree from the University of South Florida.
His career has included serving as the vice president of sales for AG Communications in Phoenix, AZ and as executive vice president of Operations in GTE International.
He is married to Connie Carney who is actively involved in the Crisp County and Cordele community as well.
Other appointees include Anthony Murray of Buena Vista and G. Sanders Griffith of Columbus.
The Transportation Investment Act of 2010 established a Citizens Review Panel for each district which approved the Special District Transportation Sales and Use Tax (TSPLOST).
Each panel is charged with the review of the administration of projects and programs on the approved investment list for its special district.
