Crosswalk approved by City Commission

Cordele — CORDELE — At Tuesday night’s City Commission meeting here, the board approved a new crosswalk on 5th Street between 2nd and 3rd Avenues.

This was requested by Crisp Regional Hospital to protect personnel who regularly cross from the hospital to the medical building. Public Safety Director, Dwayne Orrick, recommended that this safety feature be installed by the city.

In other business at Tuesday’s meeting:

— Board member Curtis Lucas, Jr. said there have been complaints about dead animals laying in the road for an extended period of time. He asked that these get cleaned up in a timely manner.

— Information signs have been erected, Ms. Burnette said, regarding the road closing for the widening project of Frontage and Kelly Roads at 24th Avenue and Kelly Rd. These were requested by Jay Brinson, school superintendent, and the manager of Country Inn and Suites.

— The board approved the placement of street lights on Frontage and Kelly Roads with permission from the Crisp County Power Commission.
