Police probe pair of burglaries

Cordele — From STAFF REPORTS



CORDELE — Items valued in excess of $700 were reported stolen in a burglary city police officers were called to investigate Monday morning.

Lt. Frank Wise said a resident of the 500 block of 23rd Ave. W. told him that while he was at work between 4-10:45 a.m. someone gained entry by removing a screen from a window he had left partially open.

Taken from an upstairs bedroom in the apartment were a Playstation 3, the controller and four games all valued at $600 and a Nintendo DS game worth $129.

A second burglary was reported by a resident of the 400 block of 23rd Ave. W.

The complaint was taken by Lt. Marvin Milner. No other information about the case was listed on the incident detail report provided to members of the news media.

In other activity on Monday and early Tuesday, officers:

— Took possession of items believed to be linked to recent crimes.

Cpl. Bruce Gourley said just before 1:30 p.m. he was dispatched to the 600 block of 12th Ave. W. where a bank bag believed to have been taken in an armed robbery was found in the yard of a residence.

Gourley had earlier gone to the 400 block of 14th Ave. W. just before 8:30 a.m. when a resident reported finding a cash register drawer that is considered to be possible evidence in a burglary. It has been processed for latent fingertips.

— Charged Amos A. McKinney, 46, of 130 Fourth St. E., Arabi, with probation violation following his arrest by Crisp County Sheriff’s Department deputies.
