Cordele —
A missing person alert has been issued for a Georgia National Guardsman last seen three days earlier.
The sister of George Cameron, who also is in the National Guard, told Sgt. Robert Green Saturday afternoon that her brother was supposed to have picked her up on Friday but failed to do so.
She added that she hadn’t spoken to him since Wednesday and that other family members had been unable to make contact with him as well.
Cameron, who has been listed as AWOL for missing a drill, reportedly had just moved to Cordele about a week ago and had been staying with an unknown friend at an unknown location.
Cameron drives a candy apple red four-door Cadillac deVille. Anyone knowing the whereabouts of him or his vehicle is asked to contact a law enforcement agency immediately.
In other activity between Friday and early Monday, officers:
— Investigated a Sunday night armed robbery at Dollar General’s 16th Ave. E. location.
Cpl. Christina Barfield said an employee of the store called 911 just before 8:30 p.m. to report she had been held up by two black males dressed in black clothing and armed with pistols had held her up.
Public Safety Director Dwayne Orrick said it was his understanding the robbers fled the store with an undetermined amount of cash and got into a small white car that drove away headed west on 16th Avenue.
All officers on duty searched for but were unable to locate the gunmen or the car in which they were traveling.
— Investigated four theft complaints.
A local woman told Cpl. Barfield just after 1 a.m. Monday that someone stole her purse she had left behind the passenger seat of a friend’s car while they went inside Wal-Mart at about 10:30 p.m. Sunday.
The theft wasn’t discovered until the two later went to a local service station. The purse owner then returned to Wal-Mart where she was told no purse had been turned in to employees.
The victim said the Dooney and Burke black purse contained a large amount of cash, a check, a set of keys, her driver’s license and Social Security cards for herself and her children.
A resident of the 400 block of 22nd Ave. W. told Lt. Lloyd Anderson that while she was upstairs with her sister Saturday afternoon, they heard a noise downstairs and then upon investigating found the front door ajar.
The victim said she then realized her billfold had been removed from a table in the living room and upon checking its contents found that $30 was missing from it. She gave police the name of a suspect whom officers have as yet been unable to locate.
A resident of the 600 block of 22nd Ave. W. told Lt. Lloyd Anderson early Sunday morning that upon exiting his apartment he found a $250 AM/FM radio with a CD player had been removed overnight from the dashboard of his car.
A resident of the 1500 block of 13th Ave. E. told Sgt. Green Saturday night that sometime within the previous 24 hours someone had stolen a Brickman portable electric-plated grill from her back porch.
— Made two arrests in a recent theft at an undisclosed business in the 1700 block of 16th Ave. E.
Det. Ketorie Sales said he has charged Whitney Renee Allen, 29, of 2776 Hwy. 41 S., with theft by taking and has cited Joel Daniel Gray, 33, of the same address, with theft by receiving stolen property.
— Received at least a third complaint in recent weeks from Denny’s Restaurant employees that patrons had eaten food and left without making payment for it.
Cpl. Jesse Barfield said he was told Friday afternoon that a white couple traveling in a maroon-colored pickup truck that had a motorcycle in the cargo bed failed to pay for $23.35 worth of food and drink they had consumed.
— Issued a trio of disordely conduct citations.
Lt. Louis New filed that charge against Amber Shuntia Williams, 18, of Lilburn, and Sadiequa Hicks, 19, of Lithonia, after being called to Eighth Avenue and Greer Street at 6 p.m. Friday to investigate two vehicles blocking the road and individuals fighting. Both fight participants were also cited for criminal trespass.
Lt. New also charged Milton Dunlap, 18, of 158 Third St. E., Arabi, with the offense after being asked to do so by a task force officer in attendance at Friday night’s Crisp-Turner football game.
—Initially charged Sylvia Maria Guy, 31, of 315 10th St. N., with allowing her pit bull to run loose and a violation of the state rabies law before later making a case against her for probation violation.
Witnesses and a victim said the first two citations against Guy were the result of her dog biting Larry Kelly on the hand and leg just after 8 p.m. Friday in the 400 block of Eighth Ave. W. The probation violation arrest was made about three hours later.
— Looked into a robbery by sudden snatching incident reported just before 11 p.m. Friday from the Sunset Homes area.
A white female was reportedly assaulted by a group of others. No further details of the incident was listed on the incident detail report provided news media members.
— Sped to Northside Pawn Shop at 302 Seventh St. N. just before midnight Friday when the burglar alarm there was triggered.
Cpl. Christina Barfield and Lt. New said they found a west side door kicked in upon their arrival at the scene. The officers then entered the building but found no one inside. The store owner called to the scene said entry had been gained, but nothing had been taken.
Just before 4 a.m. a resident of the 700 block of 15th Ave. E. filed another Saturday burglary report after coming home from work to discover that his apartment had been broken into.
What, if anything, was taken was not indicated on the incident detail report provided news media members.
— Picked up Taon Nikil Williams, 33, of 607 Ninth St. S., upon learning Saturday night that Cook County authorities had a warrant out for his arrest.
Lt. New said Williams into custody after being called to the American Legion on 10th St. S. shortly after 10:30 p.m. Saturday in reference to a subject trying to fight several other individuals in the parking lot.
